New Direct License for Music Publishers in the U.S.


Spotify has launched an opt-in direct deal for U.S. publishers that grants Spotify new rights to use music in music-centric video content and general entertainment content, opening a new royalty stream for publishers and their songwriters.

Who is this opt-in direct deal for?
Publishers who have not yet granted Spotify rights in music-centric video content and general entertainment content.

Songwriters: If your publishing rights are licensed through a publisher or administrator, check with them to confirm whether they have opted-in.

How to participate:
NMPA Members: Please refer to your NMPA communications.

Songwriters: If you are not an NMPA Member, please visit the link below to find the Spotify Direct Deal opt-in. The Spotify Direct Deal portal is open until January 16, 2026.
